Don’t Let The Uniqueness of Your Gift Discourage You.

If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31-39. This is perhaps some of the most powerful Scripture in the Word that individuals with a calling on their life should heed.

This column is for ministers, pastors, prison workers and pen pal ministers, outreach workers, garage-sellers and cake sellers, fish fryers and Boston butt cooks, professional writers, entertainers, show biz executives, managers, administrators, actors, dancers, circus workers, blue collars, white collars, and every color in the booth.

If God called you to a certain ministry or you are working an effort with a purpose tangible or intangible, and you are being judged for the way you look, work, the color of your skin, or what you believe, you need this.

I have a wonderful friend who is a jewel of a friend. She investigates, uncovers the truth, and writes to the world. She reports to the world. She is determined. She isn’t always liked and she faces jealousy as I found out, competition sometimes from others for a place in the circle. But she is determined and wins through love. I have another friend in a federal agency who practically loves you into telling the truth.  I have a counselor friend who has some peculiar ways of bringing out the “you” in you but it works. If he tried to be like others he would fail and he does it in love. Dirty Harry brought the truth in a peculiar sort of way. Dr. Phil is most peculiar but he’s special and he gets the job done. Bill O’Reilley, Geraldo, and even Simon the Idol crusher has many peculiar and eccentric ways but it works. Brittany Spears learned that she had to be herself or her career was over. 

What kind of decisions are you faced with today in order to keep your ministry alive? My biggest advice is to be you. If you like suspenders wear them and be laughed at or mocked by those who wish they had thought of it first. I wore a clergy collar in prison teachings and services because I reached more people like that. But my traditional church condemned me for it saying it looked like I was rebelling trying to be like a different faith of ministers. I was condemned by my own “brothers” and church but I with God’s help built one of the strongest evangelical churches in the panhandle before moving back t Georgia.

If God ordained you, us, whether into pen pal ministry, teaching, pastoral, helps, hospitality, or any gift you might bring to the table , who is qualified to judge you, charge you, or condemn you, or to say whether or not your are doing good and right? God isn’t even condemning you for your good so where does man get the authority to think he can dictate and destroy y
